Here’s to the ladies of Lost, still so awesome despite being perpetually mistreated by the text. I wish I had the energy or motivation to picspam all of these moments individually, but I chose most of the ones pictured with care:
-Kate, who was supposed to be the hero.
-Claire, and though I almost chose the time when she organized a memorial service for those who died in the crash while Jack was off being a ~tortured hero~, I went for the prettier ‘Par Avion,’ when she used her knowledge of migratory birds gained while watching nature programs at her comatose mother’s bedside to attempt to find a creative way to communicate with the rest of the world, even without Charlie’s support.
-Sun and how, before she was stuck in “where is my husband?” mode for like three seasons, she planted a very useful garden, was the only one able to treat Shannon’s asthma attack, and was vital in helping Jack treat the castaways.
-Shannon, when she translated Rousseau’s French nonsense despite and recognized the lyrics to “La Mer”—before she was unfairly and stupidly killed off.
-Ana Lucia, when she was the only one to get real information out of Ben, back when they though he was Henry Gale.
-Libby, when she used her skills as a psychologist to unlock Claire’s memories of captivity, before she was axed simply because they thought Ana Lucia’s death “wouldn’t have an emotional impact.”
-Nadia, pre-fridging, when she talked fondly of pushing baby Sayid in the mud while facing imminent torture.
-Rousseau, who survived SIXTEEN YEARS alone in the jungle of mystery.
-Alex, before she was fridged to push Ben over the edge, when she was staging the best teenage rebellion after her father locked up her boyfriend to prevent their relationship by trying to free daddy’s captives while armed with a slingshot.
-JULIET, for adapting to every single thing life threw at her, from being stuck on craphole island, to being left behind when others got to leave, to flashing back and forth through time, to being stuck in the 70’s. And making a damn adorable mechanic. (and also going out with a literal bang.)
-Charlotte, as she is never deterred from finding out the truth about her past.
-Eloise Hawking, who hopefully still has a part to play.
-Penny Widmore, when she somehow managed to win over everybody’s hearts despite having incredibly limited screentime; also for how she refused to stop looking, no matter what.
-Rose, who has always been grounded in her choices, whether they have been her continued faith in her husband’s survival or her decision to live out her days on the island in peace.
-Cindy, a fairly useless part given to a very charming actress, but at least she got to rock some cool hair in the temple.
-Ilana, who was so wasted and dealt such a cheap death, but stuck to her guns and did her job to the best of her ability anyways.
-Carmen Reyes, because Jesus Christ is not a weapon.
-Naomi, when she was managing to be totally adorable despite being pretty one-note.

Kate’s forever my girl. I will always be convinced that those who hate her just don’t understand her.
